PRIVACY POLICY FOR ONLYPALS

This Privacy Policy describes how OnlyPals ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our social accountability mobile application (the "App"). By using OnlyPals, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
- INFORMATION WE COLLECT
1.1 Personal Information You Provide
We collect the following information when you interact with the App:

Account information (phone number, display name, authentication data)

Point tracking data (Points adopted, daily claims, streaks, XP earned)

Challenge participation details (progress, completion status, rankings)

Check-in data (morning and evening check-in activity, assigned time slots)

1.2 Optional Information
The following data is collected only when you explicitly enable the corresponding feature:

Location data — When you enable Proximity, your GPS coordinates and location accuracy are stored in our database so that all connected Pals who also have Proximity enabled can detect when you are nearby. Proximity applies to all of your Pal connections — there is no per-Pal opt-out. Location tracking continues in the background even when the App is not actively open, updating when you move approximately 200 meters or every 15 minutes. When two Pals are detected within range, both users receive a push notification. Your location is marked inactive when you disable Proximity, which stops all background tracking. The Pal Map is a separate feature with individual per-Pal sharing toggles that control who can see your precise map position. Location data is never shared with strangers or users you are not connected with. Location may also optionally be attached to individual Point claims.

Contacts — When you use the Find Pals feature, your device contacts are accessed locally to match against existing OnlyPals users. Raw contact data is not uploaded to our servers.

Camera and photo library — When you set a custom profile photo, we request access to your camera or photo library. Photos are resized and stored securely in Firebase Storage.
1.3 Automatically Collected Information
For app performance and reliability, we collect:

Basic device information (model, OS version)

Timezone offset (for scheduling notifications and streak calculations)

Crash reports and diagnostics

Performance metrics and load times

High-level usage analytics (e.g., feature interactions, frequency of app opens)

No advertising tracking data is collected unless opted in, and this data is purely to know which customers came from a TikTok / Facebook advertisement — nothing more.
1.4 Information from Third-Party Services
We receive:

Subscription status and payment confirmation from Apple App Store

Authentication and storage data from Firebase services
We do not receive credit card numbers or billing addresses.
- HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
2.1 Core App Features
We use your information to:

Create and manage your account

Track Point claims, streaks, and XP progression

Deliver morning and evening check-in reminders at your preferred times

Support leaderboard rankings and challenge systems

Power Pal connections and social accountability features

2.2 Notifications
We send push notifications for:

Check-in reminders (AM and PM, based on your configured schedule)

Proximity alerts (when a Pal with Proximity enabled is detected nearby)
You can configure or disable notifications in the App's notification settings.
2.3 App Maintenance and Improvement
To support ongoing development, we:

Resolve crashes and bugs

Develop new features based on user needs

We do not send advertising emails or marketing messages.
- DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
3.1 Firebase Storage
All user data — including Points, XP, challenge activity, streaks, profile images, and Pal connections — is stored through Firebase infrastructure. Firebase manages:

Data encryption in transit and at rest

Real-time database sync

Profile images are stored in Firebase Storage and served over HTTPS.
3.2 Location Data
When Proximity is enabled, your location is stored in our database with an active/inactive status and a timestamp. Location data is:

Stored so that Pals with Proximity enabled can detect when you are nearby — never shared with strangers

Updated in the background even when the App is not actively open (approximately every 200 meters of movement or every 15 minutes)

Marked inactive when you disable Proximity, which stops all background tracking

Subject to a 15-minute staleness threshold (stale locations are not displayed to other users)
3.3 Local Storage
Some cached data may be stored temporarily on your device to improve speed and offline performance. This data remains encrypted and does not leave your device unless synced through Firebase.
3.4 Security Measures
We implement:

No employee or contractor can access your personal data unless required to resolve a technical issue, and access is always limited and logged.
- DATA SHARING AND THIRD PARTIES
4.1 Firebase
Firebase stores and processes data solely to power app functionality. Firebase does not access your content for advertising or resale.
4.2 Apple App Store
Apple provides subscription and payment confirmation data to us. Apple does not provide payment card numbers.
4.3 Social Features
The following information is visible to your connected Pals:

Nearby status and proximity notifications (if both you and a Pal have Proximity enabled); precise map position (only if you have opted to share your location with that Pal via the Pal Map sharing toggle)

Provide user data for advertising

Allow third-party marketing access
OnlyPals is ad-free and revenue is not derived from data exploitation.

You may:

View all Point, challenge, and XP data in-app

Edit or delete your Points and activity

Remove Pal connections

Disable location sharing at any time

Control notification preferences

Export your data upon request

Request account deletion at any time

Account and data deletion requests permanently remove your stored information from Firebase infrastructure, including profile images, except legally required retention or anonymized logs.
- CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
OnlyPals is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If such data is discovered, it will be deleted immediately.
- INTERNATIONAL USERS
If you access OnlyPals outside the United States, your data may be processed in other regions where privacy laws differ from your country. By using the app, you consent to this processing.
- CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Updates will be communicated through:

Continued use of the app after changes signifies acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
- DATA RETENTION
9.1 Active Accounts
Point, XP, streak, and challenge data remain stored in Firebase while your account is active. Weekly summaries are retained for historical progress tracking.
9.2 Account Deletion
When you request deletion:

Firebase data is permanently removed, including profile images

Location data is deleted

Local device cache is erased

Some anonymized, non-identifiable system data may remain for performance and diagnostics reporting
